Eigerbike Challenge
Mountain biking in Grindelwald underneath the Eiger.
88kms and 3900m of climbing.
I was a bit worried at the start as almost everyone had hardtails.
I suffered with my Canadian Rockies Stumpjumper.
This one kicked the shit out of me, finished in 6.42.18
La Cluses Agy
This one was tough.
110kms and 3600m of climbing
Finished in 4.31.37
Col de Joux Plane
11.6kms, 1000m of climbing, ave 8.5%, max 11.5%
This is where Lance got the bonk in 2000
and Landis made his remarkable revival, going over the top to drop down into Morzine and into the yellow jersey.
Col de la Joux Vert
12.5kms, 800m gain, ave 6.4%, max 11.1%
La Grand Bo
The Tour goes over the Col de Colombiére this year and drops down into Le Grand Bornand, thats how this one ended. The Colombiére was a brute.
Col de la Colombiére
16.3kms, 1255m gain, 6.9% ave, max 10.2%
Tour de Gruyére
This one is in Switzerland, 1hrs drive away.
Everyone got bib shorts and matching jersey.
Quite a sight with 2000+ people on the line.
125kms with 1980m of climbing
I was quite pleased to finish 33rd out of 800, only because Fabian Cancellara was supposedly riding so I rode at the front to try and see him. Found him in the pics on the web afterwards.
I did however ride on Steve Mortabito's wheel, swiss dude on Astana. He bridged up to the front group with me hanging on for grim death behind.
